There’s something so sweet about getting to watch your married friends go through different stages in life together. Josh and Anacari have done it all – dated long distance, led mission trips to other countries, tackled marriage, and started (at just 22 and 25 years old, say WHAT?!) to lead a college ministry and bible study in their home! I’ve witnessed Josh & Anacari pursue their passion for ministry and take on many uncertain seasons together with arms wide open in humble obedience to God.
After much prayer and with their permission, I wanted to share a bit more of their story and the faithfulness of Jesus in their lives. They’ve walked plenty of tough roads in 3 short years of marriage, infertility being one of them. I remember when I was a part of their college group and how vulnerable they both were during that time. They were brave and very transparent about how hard and often heartbreaking the journey had been. It was a hard season but one God used to both refine and renew them.
Psalm 66:10-12
“For you, O God, have tested us;
you have tried us as silver is tried.
You brought us into the net;
you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
you let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and through water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.”
Every Thursday night after study, we’d gather in groups of guys and girls to share praise and prayer requests, pray over one another, and build community amongst our sisters and brothers. We all prayed long and hard that if it be God’s will, that He would open the door for children to fill their home, be it naturally or by adoption. After many doctors’ appointments, tests, and trying various medications, the doctors told her she wouldn’t be able to conceive… so they began looking into the adoption process.
BUT GOD.
A week after that last appointment, Anacari had begun to feel fatigued and overall weird for several days. She was spending some quality time with a friend and explained what was going on. After she finished, her friend suggested they run to a nearby store and pick up a couple of pregnancy tests. You know… just in case. 😉 Well, they did and each one said the same thing… POSITIVE!!!!
Indeed, He is the God of miracles!
Psalm 40:5
“Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us–none can compare to You–if I would proclaim and declare of them, they are more than could be numbered.”
I pray to have accurately done their story justice and that God uses this as a platform to glorify and celebrate His mercy and goodness, of which we have merely tasted a small portion.
Josh & Anacari, I am thrilled beyond words for this precious gift you have been given! I am praising and celebrating with you as you get to hold just one of God’s MANY promises in your arms.
